TABS: Teaching for Artistic Behavior
My curriculum is guided by the TABS (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) pedagogy. TABS is a educational philosophy that puts students at the center of artmaking. Students in our class will develop skills in different art materials and have choice to explore, draw, and paint things that they find interesting or important. To put it simply your student is the artist and the classroom is the art studio. Throughout the course students will explore the use of new materials but will rarely if ever be ask to all make the same thing. Students will research, experiment, and develop their own artwork and practice talking about their own work and the work of other artists.
Grading is simple and straight forward in my class and separted into three categories attendance, participation, and completion.
