AutoCAD Vocabulary

CAD = Computer-Aided Design 

CAM = Computer-Aided Manufacturing

CAD - Software used to DESIGN blueprints or 3D models (example AutoCAD)

CAM - Software used to OPERATE machines like 3D printers, lasers, and robotic arms

AutoCAD Workspace

Ribbon - Tool icons at the top of screen.

Origin - (0,0) Starting point for drawing. 

Layout Tabs - Switch between design and printing views.

Command Bar -  Shows active tool and tool options.

Status Bar - Turn features on and off

Mouse & Keyboard Shortcuts

Hold Scroll Wheel & Move Mouse = Pan workspace moves side to side

Roll Scroll Wheel = Zoom workspace moves in and out

Spacebar Key = Repeat last command or END current command

Enter Key = Repeat last command or END current command

Double Press Scroll Wheel = Zoom Extents (zoom out to see all lines)

Commands

PROP = Properties panel (length, distance, area, etc... for selected lines)

SAVE = Save file

STATUS BAR

Restricts mouse to North, South, East, West
